Under the supervision of the Recreation Fitness & Wellness Directors, and working with the WorkStrong Coordinators, the Dietitian will act as the Registered Dietitian for the Recreation Department. The Dietitian will provide a full range of nutritional care duties which may include taking diet histories, client interviews, assessing the nutritional status of individuals, assisting in nutritional goal setting, developing meal plans and advising on lifestyle changes.
The Dietitian provides the nutritional education component of the FitLife Wellness programs through presentations, video, and written materials. The Dietitian will also serve as a campus resource in collaboration with Student Health & Well-being, Housing, Dining & Hospitality, and Human Resources.
Bachelors degree in related field from an accredited university or an equivalent combination of education and experience. California Registered Dietitian.
Ability to perform nutritional and physical activity consultations in person and/or over the phone.
Skill to interpret trends, define problems, conceptualize solutions and convert into practical applications.
Demonstrated knowledge in developing modified diets.
Ability to design and present education materials
Demonstrated experience in nutrition and physical activity data collection with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to assess nutritional histories.
Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge and use of computer software programs including word processing, desktop publishing and database application systems, and knowledge of appropriate dietary software applications for meal planning and diet analysis.
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on professionalism. Ability to relate effectively and sensitively to diverse, multi-cultural population. Skill in working in a team setting, fostering cooperation and support from other staff.
Experience and success in public speaking and presentations to a wide range of audiences.
Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet all deadlines.
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
Experience with identifying and counseling individuals directly or indirectly regarding eating disorders.
Must hold the equivalent of a Bachelors degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and have completed an American Dietetic Association internship or equivalent.
Possess current registration with the American Dietetic Association (RD certificate required).
Willingness to travel between multiple work sites. Must have access to reliable transportation.
Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
