The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for processing all initial and recredentialing applications for practitioners seeking medical staff membership and/or clinical privileges with UCSDH, or affiliation with the UCSDH Clinical Practice Organization or Clinically Integrated Network. The Credentialing Specialist will be responsible for performing primary source verification of education, training, experience, licensure, claims history, according to TJC, NCQA, CMS, AAAHC, state and federal accrediting standards. The Credentialing Specialist will assure timely submission of applications and primary source verifications within specified time periods. Other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor's Degree in relevant area and two (2) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience and proven success in federal and state compliance guidelines in a medical setting.


  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).

  • Three (3) years or more of relevant credentialing experience.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
