Incumbent serves as Commodity Manager in Procurement & Contracts --a unit of Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) housed within Business and Financial Services (BFS). This position manages comprehensive business relationship between suppliers and UC San Diego, including both end users and campus partners. Incumbent identifies opportunities to improve the bottom line of Housing, Dining, and Hospitality (HDH) and Facilities Management (FM) through negotiated savings and business process improvements.
Incumbent will develop supplier sourcing strategies, lead RFP solicitations and drive collaboration in a cross-functional team to deliver quantifiable value. Success will result from adhering to proper policy while innovating creative solutions in a forward-thinking environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead diverse groups will be paramount.

This position is expected to be a hybrid position and subject to change based on leadership determination in alignment with University guidance on flexible work arrangement policies and protocol.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of strategic sourcing policies, practices and systems.
Professional knowledge of purchasing principles and practices and experience conducting competitive bids.
Professional knowledge and understanding of MRO commodities and associated supplier bases.
Proficient at MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point, Project, Outlook, and Visio).
Excellent presentation, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational, meeting facilitation and decision-making skills.
CPSM certification and at least three to five (3 - 5) years of sourcing/purchasing experience.

Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $63,400 - $142,800 Annually
The University of California, San Diego is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
