DESCRIPTION

The primary functions of the Sr. Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialist are to perform independently a wide variety of duties within their area of specialty. These duties include investigation/development of new/modified test procedures and technical review and monitoring of existing procedures. coordination of quality control, quality assurance, and proficiencytesting activities. Responsibilities may include identification of staff training needs and evaluating the competency of testing personnel. Act as technical consultant and resource for staff, Medical Enterprise and community. Work assignments are made by the Manager and/or Supervisor and/or Faculty on a daily or project basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). (Must have current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health or CHS (Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License).

  • Must have at least three (3) years experience of molecular HLA.

  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • ASHI CHT/CHS (ACHI) certified.
  • Five (5) years of HLA Clinical laboratory experience.
  • Clinical laboratory R&D experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Flow Cytometry, such as the FACSLyric system for Crossmatch and Flow PRA.
  • Demonstrated experience with Luminex based assay, such as Antibody ID screening.
  • Demonstrated experience with Molecular techniques, such as PCR, RT-PCR, SSP, SSOP, and NGS.
  • Experience with SOFT LIS system.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $121,626 - $160,275 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $58.25 - $76.76

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
