DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in an Immunogenetics and transplantation (HLA) laboratory; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adheres to all safety policies. Performs other related CLS functions as required.
Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the CLS or CLSS level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license or limited CLS license in Histocompatibility.
Less than two (2) years experience qualifies as CLS level; two (2+) plus years of experience qualifies as CLS Specialist.
Applicable clinical laboratory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) year of professional level experience in an accredited HLA laboratory.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related science
- Certification by the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) as a Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) or ACHI Certified Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) or certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, MT(ASCP)
- Experience with various HLA testing methodologies such as HLA genotyping by NGS/RT-PCR/SSO/SSP, flow crossmatch, Single Antigen Bead assay, Flow PRA, etc.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $114,130 - $150,336 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $54.66 - $72.00
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
