Flexible work arrangements are available for this position. It will require the candidate to go to clinics but also will allow the candidate to work remotely.
The Clinical Research Assistant supports the Long-Term Outcomes study at the Kawasaki Disease Research Center. Under supervision, the Clinical Research Assistant will assist with enrollment of new KD subjects, data cleaning for enrolled subjects in REDCap, IRB protocol renewal, social media outreach to recruit new subjects, transfer of consent documents to mobile phone format, logging of clinical samples collected in clinic, attending clinic and enrolling subjects in the Long-Term Outcomes study, communication with remote enrollees, tracking lost to follow up subjects, and maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files. Other duties assigned as needed.
Theoretical knowledge in health science, social media, or related subjects.
Strong computer literacy, and word processing skills with experience using database management software. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Excellent planning and organizational skills, including being detail oriented, and having the ability to work in a changing, multiple-demand setting in order to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.
Ability to work independently (will be working at different sites) and taking orders from a number of individuals.
Proven experience with social media and website design.
Exposure to research protocols in order to screen patients for eligibility, conduct assessments, and collect data.
- Experience in administering assessments, questionnaires, and interviews.
- Experience in developing study participant educational materials and resources.
- Ability to prepare, review, and understand clinical research protocols and protocol amendments. Ability to prepare various forms, documents, and reports.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to go between UCSD, San Diego Cardiac Center, and Rady's Children’s Hospital.

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
