This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Centre Drive and remote.

This department shares the great work being done throughout the health system to measure quality outcomes, improve processes of care and ensure patient safety. The team is here to provide data and facilitate change to accomplish clinical excellence and outstanding external ratings.

The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist (CQIS) role is an important, high-profile position in the organization involved in the establishment and supervision of processes to achieve the optimal degree of excellence in the services rendered to every patient. This person will manage clinical improvement initiatives from data collection, analysis and reporting to improvement plan development and monitoring implementation. The success of this role is dependent upon excellent interpersonal, communication, process improvement and data use skills. In addition to PI initiatives, this role supports medical staff committees, organization-wide Quality & Patient Safety education and regulatory compliance.

Applies skills and experience as a seasoned quality data and/or improvement (QI) specialist to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or to portions of large projects. The CQIS independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or other healthcare profession; or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience.

  • A minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant clinical experience, OB and NICU experience highly preferred.

  • Experience and proven success in project management, QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs including MS office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.


  • MSN or Master’s Degree in health related field.
  • Core measure experience or data analysis experience.
  • CPQCC and CMQCC experience or data analyst experience.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training and/or experience.
  • Experience with Epic.
  • Experience managing Medical Staff Committees.
  • Experience with medical record review and data abstraction for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) ORYX Core Measures (e.g. PCM).
  • Expertise in the development and implementation of complex projects including multi-disciplinary teams to facilitate change throughout the health system.
  • Experience with chart review including the creation and presentation of case summaries that identify system issues through to the development and implementation of action plans.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the III or IV levels.
