This position provides oversight and subject matter expertise in Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, bank administration, and duties related to cash management, including federal drawdowns and bank account reconciliations. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating bank reconciliations, internal and external audits and serves as the control point and campus coordinator for functions related to accounting for cash, petty cash, change funds, letter of credit, undistributed cash account, and banking activity. This position works with diverse groups, including external parties (i.e., banks), key administrative offices at the University of California Office of the President (UCOP), other UC campuses, and UC San Diego financial units. Incumbent reviews work for designated staff and supervises personnel to meet unit and division goals and objectives. Develops and implements automated systems to facilitate the processing of accounting information, analysis, and reporting.
The incumbent should be familiar with all applicable federal and local regulations, GAAP Accounting Principles, and GASB standards and effectively communicate to all levels of faculty, management and staff.

This position is expected to be fully remote initially and subject to change based on leadership determination in alignment with University guidance on flexible work arrangement policies and protocol.
Effort outside of the normal 40 hour workweek may occasionally be required.
Vacation time may be restricted during fiscal year end closing activities (mid-June through mid-September).
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of accounting function. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (including GAAP& GASB Accounting), theory and practice, and knowledge and experience in applying fund accounting principles. Experience analyzing and summarizing complex accounting data, perform complex reconciliations, resolve complex accounting problems, prepare financial statements.
Ability to extract, verify, and compile accounting information from multiple sources to complete work assignments. Experience evaluating processes to establish and/or maintain appropriate accountability structures and positive internal control elements. Experience with account reconciliation with ability to recognize potential problematic areas and resolve same.
Advanced ability to effectively present complex accounting and finance related information verbally and in writing. Strong critical thinking skills and interpersonal skills.
Advance experience using financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and unique regulatory compliance requirements. Proven knowledge of financial software tools to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
Proven supervisory experience, performance management, organizational administration and strategic planning. Strong leadership skills and experience with ability to apply management principles, practices and techniques in the conduct of business for an administrative unit. Experience in motivational and moral building techniques with ability to create and maintain team spirit and harmony.
Comprehensive knowledge of audit and internal control standards; demonstrated experience in applying standards to cash management practices.
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance and six (6) years of professional level accounting or auditing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Advanced Degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
