DESCRIPTION

The Division of Medical Education within the UCSD School of Medicine is comprised of the following major units: Admissions & Student Affairs; Undergraduate Medical Education; Graduate Medical Education; and Continuing Medical Education & Faculty Development. Office of Education Technology, Innovation, and Assessment provides a broad range of technology resources and services to support students, faculty, and staff. The division supports the education, training and co-curricular activities of 500 medical students, 800 residents and fellows, as well as the faculty, physician and healthcare providers at UCSD’s School of Medicine and Medical Centers.

The Business Systems Analyst is instrumental in ensuring that medical education related business processes operate optimally and evolve with the changing needs for the Office of Education Technology, Innovation, and Assessment. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Leads the integration and configuration of the Business Processes, Evaluation systems, and Learning Management System. Documents and defines the architecture, requirements, process flows, configures the systems, and ensures proper test cases are developed and executed. Responsible for application of advanced business process and analysis of concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues with variable factors. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Ensures operational excellence by training personnel, providing reports and support when required.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

  • Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT.

  • Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.

  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

  • Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures.

  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

  • Strong ability to write scientific articles for peer-reviewed publications. Ability to write grant proposals including power calculations. Ability to review scientific articles and make innovative contributions to literature.

  • Demonstrated experience in analysis and management of complex data. Experience in SAS, SPSS, R or equivalent.

  • Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description. Advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution. Knowledge necessary to design, set up operate and correct malfunctions involving technology systems. Advanced problem-solving skills in application environment, database connections, business logic and SQL queries.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills; ability to balance multiple projects under deadlines.

  • Proven experience with research design, protocol development, project oversight, qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • Experience in Big Data Environment and demonstrated ability to provide predictive and prescriptive analytics and reporting to faculty and staff.

  • Broad knowledge relating to software design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using Tableau, MedHub, and OASIS.
