ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
- Duration: Assignments typically run for approximately 3-6 months.
- Compensation: $22.75/hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
- Schedule: Variable depending on the project team.
- Location: 100% on site
DESCRIPTION
Job Duties: - Perform maintenance and repair on natural gas furnaces, visually inspect furnace cabinets for fire hazards, soap test all fittings for gas leaks, change furnace filter and clean heater cabinets. - Perform maintenance and repair air handlers, exhaust fans, pumps, heat exchangers, pneumatic and electronic controls, AC&R equipment, and associated building equipment. - Install and repair residential plumbing fixtures, water supply lines, valves, traps, and any associated piping.- Install sinks, disposals, water closets, tanks, and hot water heaters. Maintain and repair interior and exterior lighting systems.- Repair of transformers and ballast used in fluorescent lighting, walkways and driveway lighting standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of experience in the performance of semi-skilled building maintenance work, or one (1) year as a Building Maintenance Worker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrate strong customer service by presenting a professional appearance and effectively communicate with faculty, staff and students in a helpful and respectful manner.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, move, push and pull 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of the construction, painting, plumbing and electrical trades and mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by the University's needs.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Background checks required.
- Applicants must be able to travel to various UC San Diego locations as needed.
- May require a valid CA Drivers License
This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,922 - $63,266 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.43 - $30.30
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
