DESCRIPTION

The Breast Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic breast examinations for Radiologist interpretation. Assists with breast procedures in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. Operates various types of ultrasound equipment, transducers, and recording devices. Proficiently identifies breast pathology on all ultrasound procedures and modifies the exam accordingly. Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established Ultrasound protocols to achieve the highest quality image. Reviews, verifies and evaluates images to ensure excellent image quality. Consults with the physician as applicable regarding the quality of images and data obtained. Trouble shoots and resolves ultrasound related PACS issues. Participates in performance improvement projects within the department. Floats to other locations as need. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties are to be performed at a Practitioner Level. Participate in various teaching and mentoring of ultrasound students and Residents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of a school of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience.

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in AB and OB/GYN.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience.

  • Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated computer skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $127,034 - $127,034 Annually

The University of California, San Diego is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
