DESCRIPTION
The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with expert knowledge on the Microsoft Azure platform. This includes working knowledge of Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and management, Azure Devops, Powershell, SAML application authentication integration, Application registrations and consents, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) concepts, Azure storage, Azure AD Connect and Azure security concepts, preferably in an academic healthcare environment.
The incumbent provides system design proposals, analysis, programming, maintenance, monitoring, cost analysis and hardening designs (including data security) of systems and servers, documentation with primary responsibility for the design, implementation, management and maintenance techniques of various system software products and on prem integrations that comprise enterprise physical and virtual computing infrastructure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting the cloud infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution and may participate in the on call schedule.
Incumbent will have expert knowledge with a variety of software tools, including those related to design, analysis and implementation. Incumbents provide consultation and knowledge transfer with respect to the Azure cloud environment. Design knowledge and expertise with the Cloud Computing technologies in Azure and Office 365 administration is required. Experience running Azure AD connect systems preferred.
The candidate works with various parties to bring technical projects to completion. Demonstrated experience setting up and administering conditional access policies as well as experience hardening the exposure to the Azure tenant provided services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training in the design, deployment and maintenance of complex IS hosting environments (Powershell, PowerCLI, Azure services, security management and Terraform experience) OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training in the design, deployment and maintenance of complex IS hosting environments (Powershell, PowerCLI, Azure services, security management and Terraform experience).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Microsoft AZ-104 or AZ-301 or other specific Azure certifications.
- Experience with Azure Automation, Log Analytics and Orchestration.
- Knowledge of IT Project Management techniques/processes.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $78,900 - $179,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $37.79 - $86.16
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
