This is a part-time 40% Limited position for five (5) months with the possibility of extension or conversation to career status, based on department needs and funding.
DESCRIPTION
Under close supervision, the incumbent assists in the installation, operation and troubleshooting of sound and media equipment for the Sonic Arts unit within the Qualcomm Institute. Participate as a member of the Sonic Arts research team, developing skills and serving as a specialist in high quality audio systems operations, integration and performance. Set up demos as required. Demonstrate new tools and equipment.
As a member of that team, set up, maintain, and operate AV equipment. Assist users and other staff with the technical AV aspects and support.
Responsible for maintaining equipment operability and inventory with due care. Participate in upgrades to existing infrastructure by installing necessary equipment. Assist with supervision of part-time student crew.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience with set up and operations of AV equipment.
Demonstrated ability to upgrade and install AV equipment.
Competent skills in interpreting designs, drawings, and written communication with the ability to accurately interpret them.
Ability to respond appropriately to changing priorities, and to anticipate and accommodate production needs as priorities shift.
Ability to negotiate and cooperate with all University departments and community personnel.
Ability to exercise authority and provide direction to others as needed.
Ability to determine the need to contact support resources outside the Department, including entities such as UCSD and JSOE Network Operations, JSOE Computing support, UCSD Media Services, software technical support, and repair services. Ability to assist in the successful interaction with these entities to effect problem resolution in a timely manner.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $44,119 - $76,880 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $21.13 - $36.82
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
