This is a 100% Contract position with the possibility to extend or conversion to career status. This position currently has a tentative end date of October 2025 due to funding.

DESCRIPTION

The Applications Programmer will provide support for electric power grid and renewable integration research such as:

  • Write interface code to distributed energy resources and their APIs.
  • Implement interfaces in real-time simulators and edge controllers.
  • Setup network simulators and contribute to the design of cybersecurity tests.
  • Configure and maintain databases.
  • Assist with the development of communication protocols and standards.
  • Assist in developing documentation.

The Applications Programmer applies professional programming concepts for small to medium-sized projects; resolves a variety of programming design and implementation issues; works on programming assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Javascript.

  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and an aptitude for advanced research.

  • Experience with common programming tools.

  • Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts.

  • Experience with event streaming platforms.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must pass a background check.

  • This position will have an end date of October 2025 due to funding.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 - $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 - $48.99

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
