This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Center Drive and remote OR fully remote.

The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with advanced knowledge of management systems associated with supporting, securing, maintaining, and administering all Apple devices used in the organization. The successful applicant will have a background in the installation, deployment, administration, security, and maintenance of macOS,iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, as well as experience creating, deploying, and maintaining centralized management platform software, including Jamf or Jamf equivalents in a large (15,000 + device) organization.

In conjunction with the Enterprise Systems team, the incumbent provides system analysis, maintenance, and monitoring of systems, including installations, upgrades, patches, as well as documentation with primary responsibility for the implementation, management, support, and maintenance of various system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise computing infrastructure. Manages and supports the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for all applications and operating systems as part of the on-call rotation.

Incumbent will provide consultation, knowledge transfer, and employee mentoring for device management techniques and software components. The incumbent will have a good background in technical writing and documentation.

The incumbent will assist with the management, support, and oversight of the Health Systems' Jamf instances, Jamf Connect, Azure (integrations), Jamf Protect, DEPNotify. Incumbent assists with managing, maintaining, monitoring, and securing (including data security) of all Health System servers, including installations, upgrades, patches, and documentation, including periodic reviews of systems. The systems administrator acts as a tier 3 support specialist for other application owners, Client Field Services, and Service Desk teams. Collaborates with and Mentors other Health System and Campus-based teams as needed.


  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training in a large enterprise setting, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training in a large enterprise setting.

  • Professional experience and proven success serving as the technical administrator for hardware, operating systems, and network management.


  • Proven experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies, including demonstrated experience securing server-based software.
  • Three (3) years of Systems Administration, including macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS.
  • MCSA or MCSE Certification.
  • Jamf Certified Admin (Jamf 300), Jamf Certified Endpoint Security Admin (Jamf 370), and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Apple Certified Professional or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Jamf Certified Expert (Jamf 400) certified.
  • Shared iOS experience in a Healthcare setting.
  • Experience with interfacing with EHR software (Epic Systems).
  • Understand healthcare privacy build to protect our staff and patients.


  • Must be able to travel outside the county a minimum of 5% of the time for training, conferences/seminars, or meetings supporting assigned projects.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
