The Preuss School is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban students for college admission.
Full responsibility for all administrative aspects of highly visible admissions and outreach program. Develop, update, and process applications for admission and approve or deny admissions based on established criteria, serving as expert for teachers, staff, parents and board members on admissions policy and procedures. Independently conduct off-campus outreach and recruitment programs and activities, and school-wide events such as enrollment and orientation days.
Full responsibility for Preuss CALPADS data (California’s K-12 longitudinal study of education data). As District Administrator, report and certify student demographics, program participation, grade level, enrollment, course enrollment and completion, discipline, and statewide assessment data. Participation drives program evaluation, assessment of student achievement over time, calculation of more accurate dropout and graduation rates, efficient creation of reports to meet state and federal reporting requirements, and ability to create ad hoc reports. Enter and analyze data in a variety of student information systems (Aeries, Powerschool, SEIS, CALPADS). Attend district, county, state trainings, work collaboratively with internal committees and external agencies.
- Flexible work schedule and ability to occasionally work overtime. Weekend work schedule required during peak period.
Experience in making multiple presentations using various audio/visual media. Proven oral, written, and communications skills that accurately express substance and nuance to effectively deal with people in conversation or to compose correspondence providing clear and concise information. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including tact and political acumen to effectively represent the institution.
Ability to research, gather and organize information to produce concise reports using relational and complex databases - data entry, correction, and analysis.
Solid experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, Access, Outlook, web browsers and other on-line communication systems to produce reports.
Demonstrated experience in the correct use of English grammar, punctuation, formatting and spelling sufficient to compose clear and concise correspondence and publications.
Strong skill in independently organizing and prioritizing high volume of work with strict attention to detail and meeting deadlines during peak periods while responding to divergent pressures and while working in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Excellent communication skills with ability to interpret policies and procedures, disseminate information accurately, and communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively by telephone and in person
Skill in performing all work at a high level of accuracy and completeness. Ability to proofread own work and the work of others with attention to detail.
Proven ability to assess problems/procedures, identify and communicate issues, evaluate options within the parameters of established policy and procedures, consider consequences and recommended solutions.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking.
