DESCRIPTION
This position involves the administrative services and operations for our innovative Concierge Medicine Program located in La Jolla, which provides the most personalized and coordinated medical care using leading-edge medicine and state-of-the-art technology. Performs clinic revenue reconciliation. Compiles and reports reimbursement data. Assists with incident reporting. Maintains patient accounts, interacts with collection agencies, and negotiates patient payment plans. Serves as liaison with billing office. Conducts chart reviews and reports discrepancies.
Updates diagnosis and procedure codes to support clinical documentation and maximize reimbursement. Monitors daily clinical reporting, communicates results to provide accurate and timely patient care coordination. Updates medical coding resource material and clinic procedures documentation. Serves as a department resource for finance and compliance questions/issues. Serves as a liaison between academic and clinical groups. Oversees equipment inventory and coordinates supply purchasing. Proficient user of clinic IT technology systems.
Trains administrative staff on IT systems and applications. Coordinates conferences, compiles attendee conference notes and clinical recommendations and disseminates information. Conducts registration, insurance, and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, expediting reports, working closely with physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments and staff. Assisting Physicians and all team members with managing patient-related affairs and acts as a patient liaison by fielding questions, scheduling appointments, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Experience and proven success in-clinic medical billing practices including coding, billing systems, and documentation requirements.
Thorough knowledge of ambulatory care clinic practice management including patient care workflows and processes.
Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology and clinical knowledge of clinic practice area.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working in a complex healthcare environment.
- Must have strong grammar and spelling skills.
- EPIC trained.
- Demonstrated experience with insurance and authorization.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
