Under general supervision, provide patient care and clerical support to clinical laboratory by serving as central information resource to patient, physician, staff and community member. Typical duties involve patient interaction, processing laboratory requisitions, and electronic orders, specimen of samples received in the lab or presented by patient. Instruct patient on proper specimen collection, assist co-workers with patients as needed to ensure the highest level of patient care. Additional duties include the monitoring of eyewash log, administrative supplies and maintaining the laboratory cleanliness and upkeep.


  • Two (2) years previous experience as a registrar, customer service representative (in a large, complex healthcare setting) or related experience.

  • Direct knowledge of the laboratory services, including but not limited to laboratoryinformation systems, specimen processing, handling and aliquoting of samples using standard precautions and proper protective equipment.

  • Must be highly motivated to improve patient satisfaction, patient outcome, and customerservice within the institution.

  • Excellent customer service presence.

  • Must be flexible to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.


  • Knowledge of current hospital and laboratory information systems.
  • Knowledge of Phlebotomy and specimen processing protocols.
  • College coursework.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
