UC San Diego Health System offers the only Blood and Marrow Transplant program in San Diego that is affiliated with a renowned School of Medicine and accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Hematopoietic Therapy (FACT). We focus on blood and marrow transplants and the Oncology population with minimal Med/Surg overflow on our 36-bed private room unit. The growing list of diseases, as well as nonmalignant conditions we treat includes: lymphoma and Hodgkin’s disease, acute and chronic leukemia, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome, sarcoma, testicular cancer, aplastic anemia, auto-immune and genetic diseases.
Under general supervision, the New Grad RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluated results for a wide variety of patient populations. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support of policies. Achieves trust in professional collegial relationships.
We offer a Chemotherapy course as part of the training for new grads. We also offer many oncology educational opportunities that provide detailed information on how to care for this unique population.
While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.
This posting is for our February 2022 New Grad RN program. Start dates may vary throughout January and February.
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Active CA RN License by start date.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Must have less than six (6) months of active RN experience.
Externship/internship/preceptorship or prior work history in BMT or Oncology.
Community service/volunteer experience.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
