UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) is growing in the diverse areas of professional educational programs, cutting-edge research, and pharmacy services. Under supervision of the PI, the research data analyst performs geographic information systems analysis. This includes geocoding of locations and estimating driving distances using a population. Additionally, the research data analyst manipulates small and large data-sets for quality control, preparation for analyses, and assists with creation of calculated variables for researchers. Under the direction of the PI, the research data analyst contributes to manuscript preparation, grant proposal development, and conference presentations for studies requiring a variety of statistical, GIS methods and other quantitative methods; uses multiple statistical software packages such as ArcGIS, R, SQL and SAS to characterize data and develop programs for analysis.
Under direct supervision, acquires skills and knowledge of professional concepts in research data analysis. Works on small projects or segments of projects with limited scope and complexity.
Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area.
Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.
Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.
Basic consultation and communication skills.
Experience with R and SQL.
Experience in the implementation of GIS analyses.
Ability to communicate results to scientists and to other assistant statisticians.
Knowledge of data analysis pipelines that clean, analyze, and output data in ways that are optimized to reduce error and support reproducible science.
