University Communications is looking to hire a new Business Manager. This is a newly created position that will plan for and manage the financial objectives of the division that supports the university's strategic communications plan.
Reporting to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO), the Business Manager manages, plans and administers the financial operations for the University Communications organization. Provides budget and financial analysis to the University Communications leadership team to responsibly and effectively manage existing budgets and facilitates annual budget planning. Provides counsel to the leadership team on a variety of complex financial and budgetary issues, including monitoring funding priorities and independently performing ongoing analysis to track, evaluate, project and report on the financial status of all funds. Analyzes complex policy and financial issues. Serves as the departmental contact and liaison and works closely with the Chancellor’s Business Office on all financial matters.
Manages the administrative support function for the University Communications organization, including supervision of administrative support staff.
Serves as a strong facilitator and liaison to advance the organizational mission and goals. Promotes a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion, and respect. Provides superior customer service to internal and external constituents.
Experience applying budgetary planning principles, policies and procedures, and familiarity with budgetary projections and analysis in a multiple-fund environment.
Experience preparing concise reports, analyzing and compiling statistical information, and developing procedural documentation. Skill to articulate procedures and processes to staff.
Effective interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated experience to use independent judgment in resolving problems. Ability to prioritize heavy workload to meet fluctuating demands.
