The Staff 2 Pharmacist in the Specialty MTM Clinic will be responsible for providing direct patient care to patients in various specialty populations at UCSD Health. The pharmacist will conduct virtual and/or in-person visits with patients focusing in on specialty populations with multiple chronic conditions, complex medication therapies, and those on high-cost drugs. The pharmacist will work under Collaborative Practice Agreements to provide patient education and counseling, optimize therapeutic outcomes, and prevent costly medication issues. They will be provided administrative time to communicate with providers and clinic staff, create and send prescriptions, follow up with dispensing pharmacies, and other administrative tasks as appropriate to ensure patients receive their medications safely and efficiently. Initial specialty areas of focus will include Gastrointestinal, Dermatology, Allergy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Advanced Lung Disease.


  • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or equivalent clinical experience.

  • Registered Pharmacist - issued by the state of California (RPH).

  • Post graduate year 1 (PGY1) or equivalent clinical experience.


  • Post graduate year 2 [PGY2] in area of specialty practice or equivalent experience in specialty area.
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Board Certification in Specialty Practice.
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system Experience in pharmacotherapeutic management, education and counseling of patients in desired specialty areas.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
