The incumbent will lead new and ongoing auditing, provider education, and training related to documentation quality and ICD-10 diagnosis coding accuracy for hierarchical condition category (HCC) capture. Ensures accurate and complete documentation of inpatient and outpatient professional fee services and other provider captured charges through both concurrent and retrospective review. Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Coding, Population Health Services Organization and Office of Compliance and Privacy leadership.
Develop and implement training curriculum for opportunities identified, conduct both individual and group provider education, and develop action plans for improvement. Function independently with full understanding of all components of the revenue cycle. Complete complex projects of diverse scope and/or portions of large projects. Involve revenue cycle functions for the healthcare enterprise, including system billing, reporting and support.
Seven (7) years or more of related experience, education/training in professional fee documentation requirements, CPT and ICD-10 coding, HCC auditing and provider education in an academic setting; OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training in professional fee documentation requirements, CPT and ICD-10 coding, HCC auditing and provider education in an academic setting.
Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA: Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the American Academy of Professional Coders, or equivalent.
Experience and proven success in practices, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle and its component operations, including billing and charge capture.
Effective interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to interact with physicians and advanced practice practitioners, and other billing providers.
- Current Certified Risk Coder (CRC) by AAPC.
- Experience and knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations, billing policy, and EPIC EHR.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
