Under the direction of the Medical Director of the Moores Cancer Center Infusion Center, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will function as a provider of patient care for patients receiving treatment in the Infusion Center. The NP will provide patient care oversight, including management of toxicities and/or reactions to IV treatments. Direct supervision will occur by assigned medical oncologists. The position requires a strong emphasis on the management of patients undergoing cancer and non-cancer related treatments, including clinical trials, BMT, chemotherapy, biologic and immunotherapies.
This position will work at UC San Diego Health's various Infusion locations including Hillcrest, La Jolla, Vista, Encinitas, and Kearny Mesa.

Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.
Current NP Specialty Certification from one of the following Nursing Boards: AANP, ANCC, NCC, PNCB, AACN.
Current ART, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum one (1) year working licensed Physician Assistant (PA) experience in Hematology, Oncology, BMT or Infusion. Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years gained through school or work experience.
Theoretical background in: anatomy, physiology, general medicine, pulmonary, emergency and critical care medicine, management of common diseases, concepts of medicine and surgery, therapeutics including pharmacology, counseling techniques and interpersonal dynamics.
Proven ability to perform initial history, and physical examination, identify major medical problems, and formulate appropriate plans of action.
Demonstrated knowledge of common diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures used in a clinic setting.
Must understand purpose, required supplies and/or equipment, how to perform procedure accurately, infection control, an accurate documentation of medical chart.
Strong ability to manage own patient load.
One or more years of Oncology Infusion experience.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Current University of California NPIII employees may be hired at the NPIII level pending review and approval by Health Human Resources and the UCSD Advanced Practice Council.
