Responsible for the activities and functions of Histology services. Offers expertise in all areas of the Histology department to include, and not limited to: H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Electron microscopy (EM), Immunofluorescent (IF), and CISH staining. Serves as reference to staff, Pathologists, and others in laboratory leadership, takes part in department operation planning, and ensures effective use of system resources. Participates in process improvement activities. Oversees staffing matrices, conduct performance evaluations, and discipline employees. Ensures policy and procedures are followed by staff. Ensures compliance with all regulating agencies.
Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years experience in Histology.
Experience and proven success in maintaining currentknowledge of laboratory concepts, new methodologies andadvances in the field of specimen processing, automation,and procedures.
Ability to apply principles in a clinicallaboratory setting.
- Certification in Histotechnology HTL or HT from American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required.
- Previous Histology supervisory experience in a hospital setting.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
