Under supervision, the Clinical Social Worker will work as Eating Disorder Clinical Social Worker, providing individual and group psychotherapy to patients in the UC San Diego Health Eating Disorder Adult Program. The incumbent will be providing weekly therapy sessions, management of the patient milieu, and coordinating care with other team members and outside treatment providers under the supervision of a licensed clinician. Other duties include: administering assessments to patients, attending weekly trainings and workshops, reporting on patient’s progress in weekly treatment team meetings, and providing work direction to nurses in our Eating Disorder Program.
A Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Training and/or experience in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
One (1) year of experience in psychology, social work, or related field.
Provision of services (clinical or research) to individuals with psychiatric diagnoses.
Experience working directly with individuals diagnosed with an eating disorder, OR experience working in an IOP, PHP, residential, or inpatient program.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the most current DSM categories and differential diagnosis.
Thorough knowledge and skill in problem-focused psychotherapeutic approaches.
Ability to form constructive working relationships with eating disorder patients.
Ability to provide phone coaching to patients (i.e. be available by phone to assist patients in applying skills to prevent behaviors).
- Training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
- Experience in providing meal support to patients.
- Experience in providing professional services to individuals with eating disorders.
- Experience working directly with patients in a Day Treatment or Residential program.
- Flexible to work variable hours and locations based on business needs, including Saturdays from 9am to 3:30pm.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
