DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Provider and Community Specialist (PCS)/Resident Rotation Coordinator is responsible for the management, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Pediatric Immunization Program and Residency Rotation Curriculum program targeting over 500 providers and medical training schools who vaccinate children. The PCS/RRC uses the results of a coverage rate assessment to assist with planning comprehensive educational interventions addressing best practices in immunization.

The PCS/RRC will monitor providers who participate in the San Diego Regional Immunization Registry and provide quality assurance indicators and will follow up with the SDIR implementation strategies to reduce errors and/or incomplete records. By developing relationships with key stakeholders in the immunization community and obtaining expert knowledge on vaccine reimbursement, pay for performance indicators, and the impact of accrediting bodies and health plans on providers, the PCS/RRC develops interventions that work within the provider's delivery system. The PCS/RRC also promotes educational opportunities for physicians including the CDC and CDLHN satellite courses. The PCS/RRC develops marketing strategies to continually immunization providers and provides San Diego Immunization Registry (SDIR). The overall goal of the program is to increase vaccination rates for children in San Diego.

Applies acquired skills, process, and policy knowledge to support professional health education program learners. Coordinates program operations, which include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.

  • Must have valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record and must provide own reliable transportation.

  • Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Basic knowledge of health professions education industry.

  • Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Acquiring skills in developing and implementing processes and systems. Familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program.

  • Communication skills; includes verbal, written and active listening. Service oriented and responsive to questions and requests. Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner.

  • Demonstrated experience providing direct professional education/training to physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and medical practice office staff. Ability to negotiate and problem solve with physicians to effect change in practice and management behaviors.

  • Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to develop working relationships within department and with learners. Experience brainstorming and participating in group problem solving techniques. Experience establishing, working, and maintaining relationships with health plans, provider groups, professional associations and health care organizations.

  • Knowledge of educational technology and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and triages related technology issues.

  • Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills. Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting and submitting accurate reports. Skills include entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems.

  • Proven experience in quality assurance, research and/or evaluation to assess and improve delivery of health care.

  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint (intermediate level), and Access; email; Internet. Graphics and publishing programs helpful, but not required.

  • Excellent written communication including ability to generate program summaries, statistical reports and presentation materials. Experience with planning manuscripts for publication helpful, but not required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nursing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the San Diego Regional Immunization Registry Software.
  • Healthcare experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively read, write and interpret in Spanish.
  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Health Education, Public Health, Community Organization or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Flexible hours may be required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift heavy boxes of printed materials and other materials up to 20 lbs.
