The incumbent will support all research efforts in the Liver Imaging Group of the Department of Radiology. Working independently, he/she will perform a wide variety of non-standard procedures. The incumbent will coordinate and perform analysis on multiple government funded, investigator sponsored, and industry sponsored research, clinical, and industry studies involving human subjects. He/she will participate in clinical and research studies by screening patients, analyzing and managing imaging data. Data to be analyzed includes, but is not limited to, PDFF, MRE, DWI, adipose volume segmentation, and quantitative ultrasound parameters. His/her involvement in research imaging will include analysis of research data, and the writing and preparation of manuscripts for publication. Using circumscribed procedures incumbent will back-up, preprocess, and analyze data. He/she will make figures, graphs, and electronic presentations and posters, as well as organize images using Photoshop and other image editing software for use in a clinical and a research setting.
The incumbent will be responsible for assigned aspects of grant proposal preparation and submission, including study design, technical writing and editing, data collection and management (databases such as REDCAP), management of references (with reference managers such as Endnote), budget preparation, and aiding in compliance with federal, state and university regulatory requirements for funded research. He/she will also draft, and assist in the drafting of manuscripts as an author or coauthor including; study design, collage/figure design and creation, analysis of data for manuscript, and completion and submission of manuscript.
The incumbent will train new employees, volunteers, and interns in the analysis of images and construction of figures and collages and will oversee these efforts. The incumbent will create new and modify existing standard operating procedures, both written and audio/visual, as well as communicate these procedures with laboratory personnel to ensure proper data processing protocol.
The incumbent will participate in research study coordination and participant recruitment to include obtaining informed consent as well as the acquisition of MR data as a certified MRI scanner operator. He/she will also be responsible for the handling of surgical specimens including preparation, storage, and shipping. The incumbent will also perform general lab maintenance, including ordering supplies and keeping up to date on safety protocols.
Theoretical knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the human body, specifically in liver, such as typically acquired by a Bachelor's Degree in or related to science.
Experience in preparing, writing and editing of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and for presentation at conferences or symposiums as first author.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently meet deadlines without reminders for multiple concurrent projects while keeping the PI and other lab personnel updated on progress. This includes the ability to work in a demanding environment and to communicate challenges and delays with the PI when deadlines will not be met.
Experience in and knowledge of MRE data analysis to include 2D and 3D image capture, analysis and documentation.
Experience in a research lab. Specifically, demonstrated ability to perform standard repetitive techniques that may be required in research protocols related to specific lab.
Demonstrated experience with data collection and management, databases such as REDCAP and Endnote.
Strong communication skills (both oral and written) needed to interact professionally and effectively in work environment, as well as effectively and accurately document research procedures. Ability to read, comprehend and discuss research materials.
Experience in training and overseeing lab personnel in various lab duties and tasks.
Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient/study subject data.
Proficient experience with the operation of a personal computer and software, such as MS Word and Excel. Knowledge to work with and learn new software for analysis.
Ability to compose letters, proposals, grants, reports, presentations, and other comprehensive materials using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, editing, formatting, and proofreading skills to clearly and concisely provide accurate information.
Proven ability to conduct basic data analysis using computerized statistical software.
Skill in accurate record keeping and ability to organize, analyze, and calculate data. Meticulous attention to detail. Knowledge of basic math.
Experience in making significant contributions to writing and editing the scientific body of major proposals.
Experience in performing data calculations and analysis from experimental results and use of high-tech scientific software and equipment.
Experience in operating MRI scanners to acquire human subjects imaging data, including MRI-PDFF, 2D MRE, and 3D MRE methods.
Experience in research study coordination of human subjects, including obtaining informed consent.
Experience in the handling of biological tissues including storage, processing, and shipping.
- Experience working in a radiology lab or department.
