DESCRIPTION

The Marine Physical Laboratory Division at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego is seeking a Staff Research Associate 1.

The incumbent shall be responsible for various tasks in support of a research program into the ocean chemistry of carbon dioxide including: preparation and distribution of reference materials for oceanic carbon dioxide measurements. Additionally, they will perform lab related tasks e.g. record keeping, maintaining inventory, equipment maintenance, train and assist other laboratory staff with seawater analysis when needed.

  • Must have access to reliable transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Prior laboratory experience in a chemistry laboratory

  • Demonstrated writing and communication skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety procedures

  • Experience using personal computers for data processing and word processing

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Driver’s license required.

  • The worksite for this position is at the UC San Diego campus.
