Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Under general supervision from the Principal Learning Technologies Analyst, this position will provide guidance on the use and support of the campus learning management system (LMS) as well as providing support with the development or curating of online content for use within the LMS.
Duties will include providing analysis and proposed solutions for addressing LMS issues; lead testing for LMS upgrades as needed; uploading and testing of online content in the LMS; assisting with defining requirements for ancillary tools; communicating criteria for and assisting departments with migration of existing training data into the LMS; training instructors or those with enhanced LMS access on LMS features; providing guidance on development and maintenance of a LMS help site; developing marketing materials and user guides for the LMS based on existing and enhanced features; providing overall LMS support to the campus as needed. Will also assist in the development of content for publishing using online authoring tools, and working with existing online vendors in an effort to curate existing content that can be used more effectively by UCSD users.
Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Ability to translate training requirements into properties within a learning management system. Ability to analyze LMS issues and propose and implement solutions. Ability to analyze impact of LMS upgrades and suggest options for mitigating any UC-specific challenges.
Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT.
Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture. Experience and knowledge of the principles and practices of instructional design.
In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
Broad knowledge relating to software design. Experience developing requirements for ancillary tools (applications or systems) that can be used to support a learning management system.
Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures.
Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Experience loading, testing, and providing thorough feedback on developed content.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact, advise, and consult effectively with all levels and groups in a university setting.
Two (2) years demonstrated professional level related experience in developing, reviewing and editing training materials, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience assisting with administration of learning management systems used to manage employee training, including compliance and professional development training.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot access issues with the LMS and determine if it is related to the LMS or other applications.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Experience using learning technologies for curriculum development and learning delivery.
- Experience with the SumTotal TotalLMS version 7.6 and higher.
