DESCRIPTION

Dept. of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, GI Motility Laboratory of Dr. Ravinder Mittal, M.D.. Research projects on human gastrointestinal motility.

Under supervision, the incumbent will perform GI motility research and laboratory maintenance. This will include, but is not limited to, independently working with physiological recording devices such as manometry devices, pH recorders, impedance device, ultrasound, and MRI. Laboratory maintenance will include, but is not limited to, cleaning equipment, setting up experiments, purchasing laboratory supplies, and organizing data or documents. Other duties may including scheduling research studies and organizing research study schedule. Incumbent will work directly with human research subjects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of universal precautions and safety for working with human research subjects.

  • Experience with human research subject information privacy and security. Prior HIPAA training.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to coordinate between research subjects, scientist, physicians, and engineers.

  • Theoretical knowledge of physiology.

  • Experience with laboratory maintenance.

  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain files, data, orders, and schedules.

  • Knowledge and experience with laboratory safety.

  • Proficient and comfortable using a computer and internet on a daily basis. Ability to type documents, organize computer files, check email, perform web searches, and other tasks related to basic computer use.

  • Ability to adapt to changing research protocols and learn new tasks as needed.
