Under the supervision of a Certified Hematopoietic Transplant Coordinator and/or Physician, the Associate Unrelated Donor Search Coordinator serves as the focal point between BMT Attending Physicians and Unrelated Donor Registries by managing the process required to secure a qualified cell source for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Facilitates MD request for donor search by initiating search.
- Reviews preliminary search results and completes applicable enrollment forms.
- Places donor workup requests, working collaboratively with registries and donor centers to meet targeted collection dates.
- Contributes to the selection of donors to pursue for confirmatory typing, outside typing and workup. Communicates this to registries.
- Maintain organized files for the search.
- Work with nurses to order services and tests as needed to finalize donor.
- Facilitate appropriate dates and the procurement and delivery of the cells.
- Enter patient charges associated with testing and procurement.
Bachelor's Degree in biology, anatomy or Health, or related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
A minimum of two (2+) or more years of relevant experience.
Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
