The IT Commodity Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing and contracting activities to support the efficient procurement of IT hardware, software, and services. As a member of the Procurement Services team, this role will function as the category expert to the entire UC San Diego Health enterprise.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Staying current with customers' short & long term requirements and applicable market trends and conditions.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on sourcing and contracting strategy to assigned departments.
- Leading RFx activities including RFx development, release, negotiations of pricing and agreement terms and conditions, bid evaluation, and supplier selection.
- Contract management and associated activities.
- Supplier management including engaging in supplier business reviews and continuous performance management.
- Assessing and processing incoming new service contract requests.
- Mentor and develop junior buyers.
Assignments will be diverse and complex requiring analysis of unique issues/problems and the ability to apply precedent and California Public Contracting and UC Health standards. Will manage efficiency, compliance, and cost-saving initiatives that require formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources.
Incumbent will exercise sound judgment in selection methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain best value in all transactions. Will be required to make purchasing recommendations based on documented qualitative and quantitative data that satisfy compliance, audit, UC Health, State and other requirements. Adheres to HIPAA and BAA requirements.
This position may be partially or fully located at our Town Center Drive location.
Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Five (5+) or more years of experience working with IT hardware and software vendors in a sourcing, contracting, and vendor management capacity.
Experience should include developing specifications for IT professional services, drafting SOW’s for IT infrastructure and applications, and very importantly a strong working knowledge of cybersecurity risks, technology, and services.
- CMRP from AHRMM or CPSM from ISM.
- Oracle Certification.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
