Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center is San Diego’s 1st Comprehensive Cardiovascular Center providing heart and vascular programs in one central location. Global leader and international referral center in Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE). The Sulpizio Cardiovascular center is a heart and lung transplant center with the only lung transplant program in San Diego County. The Ventricular Assist Device program boast some of the best outcomes in the nation, and provides therapy with 5 different devices. The Cardiology Clinic is a 21 room multi-specialty clinic (Cardiology, Pulmonary, Stroke, Transplant.
The Registered Nurse Supervisor is a front line management position responsible for the immediate functioning of the clinic. In addition to performing normal clinical duties, the Registered Nurse-Supervisor directs and supervises overall operation of the clinic and is responsible for supervising and delivering quality patient care on designated shift. The Registered Nurse-Supervisor is responsible for promoting high quality, cost effective delivery of care by assessing, monitoring, and educating the nursing staff. In addition the Registered Nurse-Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the unit effectively utilizes resources, provides excellent customer service, and complies with regulatory and internal UCSD requirements.
The Registered Nurse Supervisor plans, schedules and organizes work for the unit, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities. Position supervises staff, screens candidates, and assists with the interviewing and hiring of new employees. The Registered Nurse-Supervisor ensures staff competence by conducting performance appraisals, counseling staff and taking disciplinary action as required in consultation with nursing management and Human Resources/Labor Relations. This position is also front line in clinic providing direct patient care, nurse visits, IV medication etc.
BSN required. Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in a BSN or higher nursing degree program.
Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
A minimum of five (5+) or more years of recent RN experience.
Possess and maintain expert knowledge of disease processes, the continuum of care, and services/resources available to the patient and family.
A minimum one (1) year of resource nurse, charge nurse or supervisory experience.
Strong ability to communicate proficiently orally and in writing including a facility with public speaking.
Excellent interpersonal and planning skills to interact with physicians and staff at various skill and licensure level.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with patients and their families. Compassionate caregiver with a holistic perspective of patient and family-centered care.
- Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Outpatient Clinic experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in a CVICU/ER/or CV specialty floor.
- Two (2) years telephone triage experience.
- Clinical Nurse Leader Certification.
- Certification in a Clinical Specialty.
- Phlebotomy and IV experience.
- LVAD experience.
- EPIC experience.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
