Under direct supervision, responsible for front desk and administrative support of the ambulatory Rehabilitation Services clinics, including patient assistance, communication, monitoring of waiting room patient flow and facilitation of appointment and provider timeliness. Performs general administrative duties and call center functions such as answering multi-line incoming customer calls, securing authorizations for scheduled services, appointment scheduling, insurance verification and patient registration functions as needed at advanced level. Participates in training and departmental meetings as designated and represents the department at the medical and general community as a service ambassador. Other duties assigned as needed.
Two (2) years of related experience in a healthcare environment or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Insurance payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.
Prior experience with related systems: EPIC EMR and related systems.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple phone lines and issues at once, while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent customer service.
Experience with high volume, multiline telephone calls.
Superb customer service presence.
Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of or experience in Healthcare environment or related field.
- Medical terminology training and/or certificate.
- Prior experience with related systems: EPIC EMR and related systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Ability to prioritize and process therapy referrals based on diagnosis.
- Experience with patient relations, concierge program, and/ or patient population.
- Familiar with UCSD policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
