Under the direction of the Nurse Manager performs and coordinates general front office duties, to include but not limited to clinic and procedure appointment scheduling, authorization, billing verification, completion and coding of billing document, insurance eligibility and verification, triaging phone calls and performs other duty as assigned. Maintains confidentiality. Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency of scheduling and coordination. May perform other related duties as assigned.
Three (3) years administrative experience.
Proficient computer skills and data entry experience, especially with charge entry and scheduling.
Experience scheduling appointments with proven ability to exercise judgment and make decisions with regard to patient needs.
Thorough knowledge and familiarity with various insurance types and the authorization process.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems.
Demonstrated knowledge Medical terminology, preferably pulmonary.
Ability to determine importance of calls and proper area of referral.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner, both in person and by telephone when dealing with diverse groups of people.
- Four year college degree in a related field.
- Three to Five years of administrative experience in a large complex health care setting.
- Knowledge of UCSD Medical Center systems (EPIC, Webpaging)
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
