The UC San Diego Human Resources Department is the campus central office encompassing numerous core campus organizations that include Disability Counseling and Consulting, Equal Opportunity Services, Compensation and Classification, Benefits, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition and Data Analytics, Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, Labor Relations, Retirement Resource Center, Policy Development and Work-Life, Staff Education and Development, and Temporary Employment Services.
Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition & Data Analytics and partnering with UC San Diego Advancement's senior team, the Senior Executive Recruiter serves as a dedicated talent full-cycle specialist. Additionally, this role is responsible for executive-level recruitment planning, organization, coordination, and implementation for Advancement leadership positions.
The Senior Executive Recruiter will work in an executive search firm style to attract a nationwide candidate pool of top advancement professionals and develop an inventory of potential candidates for current and future opportunities. This position develops recruitment plans devoted to professional sourcing and networking activities, cultivates professional contacts, and establishes network protocols for identifying prospective job candidates.
Working directly with Advancement's senior management, hiring managers, and Campus HR, the Senior Executive Recruiter will develop advancement staffing goals, recruitment strategies, individual recruitment plans, and determine recruitment best methods and process flow. In addition, the Senior Executive Recruiter will be actively involved in reviewing candidate pools and working closely with the hiring managers to ensure a diverse pool of qualified applicants.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable with the execution and completion of critical deliverables, has strong attention to detail, and is driven by a desire to meet the campus business needs, focusing on increasing inclusivity and diversity.
Must be willing and able to travel.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work impacts other areas in Human Resources and the organization.
Advanced knowledge of the recruitment, screening, interviewing and referral processes.
Consults with other areas of HR around the interaction of employment matters and their relationship with other HR functions.
Advanced knowledge of employment law.
Skills associated with conducting needs assessment, providing input on candidate selection, problem solving, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven abilities associated with problem identification; reasoning; ability to work with business units in the development of ideas and strategies to address short- and long-term employment issues.
Demonstrated skills associated with candidate identification and selection of senior level and more unique employment assignments.
Highly skilled in public speaking with ability to speak effectively and articulately in front of a large audience.
Several years of experience conducting executive recruitments directly or through search firms. Development/fundraising related positions, preferred. Proven success with all aspects of senior level recruiting including management, sourcing and marketing, budgeting, metrics reporting and use of recruiting technology.
Experience managing recruitment budgeting, metrics, and technology as well as demonstrated thorough knowledge of recruiting best practices and HR concepts and processes.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful recruiting networking relationships.
Proven ability to adapt to changing recruitment needs, adjust pace of work and tolerate ambiguity as well as to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong results/goal orientation.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and approachable and able to easily communicate and work with individuals at all levels within the organization. Deep commitment to customer service.
Strong ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion; ability to use independent judgment and manage and impart information to a range of clientele, and perform a wide range of duties that require tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, organizational skills, flexibility and discretion.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws as well as the ability to interpret and comply with the Institute’s policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to be proactive, creative and innovative in solving problems and issues.Strong negotiating skills, including the ability to resolve and manage conflict.
Must present and be perceived as a person of credibility and stature regarding knowledge of advancement and the higher education environment.
Strong and sophisticated oral and written communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to work across a complex organization and interact and partner with various levels of management, staff, faculty and outside constituents. Ability to draft clear and concise specifications, documentation and reports.
Thorough knowledge of applicant tracking systems or the proven ability to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of organizational systems structure and application.
Must be energetic, creative, resourceful, pragmatic, self-directed and motivated, and have a good sense of humor and a leader in creating a healthy, positive and engaging work environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to strategically assess organizational needs and develop policies as well as program and system solutions.
Proven experience in leadership, management and engagement of talent in a changing and complex environment.
Bachelors degree and five (5) years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
