Under the general direction of the Environmental Services Manager, supervises and coordinates Linen Services operations for day, evening and night shifts at both Hillcrest and La Jolla locations. Coordinates and supervises up 12 Linen workers. Oversees compliance of linen management based on the regulatory requirements for a health care facility. Oversees policies and procedures and programs to improve operational performance.
Maintains a continuous quality improvement program; maintains technical training programs for staff; provides assistance for a full range of personnel and labor relations activities, including recruitment, hiring, evaluations, staff development and discipline; supervises quality control measures and procurement of equipment and supplies; ensures maintenance of required record keeping systems. Oversees the work assignments of Linen department staff and ensures high standards of quality linen.
Develops training, and inventory control for the department. Other duties include inventory of all linens and supplies, linen delivery, data entry, and assist customers with new lab coats ordering; develop service schedule for linen delivery and adjusts par levels as needed; meet with laundry vendors. Visit Patients and conducts surveys about services provided by Linen Department; partners with Nursing Staff to ensure optimal experience for Patients.
A high school Diploma or GED required.
Three (3) years of custodial operations experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience in a large, complex healthcare system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated operations experience and success at a supervisory level.
Experience with government, regulatory and industry codes, policies, standards and requirements involving a healthcare facility such as DEH, CDPH, TJC, OSHA, CMS, EOC Clean Linen handling and procedures, and infection control requirements, codes and policies.
Experience developing, implementing and delivering a variety of training activities to establish and maintain work standards, adhere to health and safety requirements and to develop competencies and leadership skills among staff.
Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
Knowledge of procedures for the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious/bio hazardous waste.
Ability to work effectively under pressures and meet established goals and objectives. Able to quickly learn operational needs, work collaboratively on a fast paced, high functioning team.
A self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.
- AA or AS degree, or higher.
- CLLM (Certified Laundry and Linen Management) certificated.
- Demonstrated skill in supervising a diverse, unionized workforce.
- Demonstrates knowledge of personnel management, labor relations, and demonstrated ability to apply healthcare environment and business judgment, management concepts, and counseling for all personnel on daily operational issues.
- Must pass a background check.· Must pass physical, drug screen and TB test.Must be able to work various hours and locations basedon business needs.
