Under general supervision, the Privacy Program Analyst is responsible for performing a broad range of technical and critical high-level reviews to support the Office of Compliance & Privacy. Duties include privacy incident investigation and management, investigate & interpret information provided for reported privacy and medical ID theft concerns, privacy surveillance/ monitoring of the electronic medical information systems for questionable and/or inappropriate user access in accordance with Program Policy and Procedures,.
Incumbent will participate in risk assessment of surveillance activities and other monitoring strategies to assess HIPAA compliance. Analyzing victim inquiries of suspected Medical Identity Theft vs Billing Errors, reviewing the inquiries, and coordinating with the necessary departments for resolution, and assisting with privacy violation complaints. Ensures privacy monitoring is performed effectively and timely, follows established procedures in accordance with data security standards, utilizes various systems to perform routine and complaint driven privacy surveillance.
Serve as the Program's database administrator which involves information management, storage, retrieval, issue tracking, and summary reports. Represent the Privacy Program at the request of management during investigation meetings, committees, taskforce meetings, training and presentations, based on organizational needs. Updates and maintains privacy files and spreadsheets and is responsible for other administrative duties as assigned.
Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Experience and proven success in demonstrating knowledge of privacy compliance requirements and reporting guidelines from all relevant clinical program regulatory bodies.
Familiarity with the clinical and operational implications involved.
Knowledge and ability to implement HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) from (HCCA) or commitment to obtain CHPC within 12 months of hire (Must maintain CHPC for the duration of employment).
- Four (4) years of Healthcare privacy program experience or relevant analyst experience.
- Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS).
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
