Hillcrest 9 West is a 6-bed direct-observation Medical Progressive Care Unit. 9 East is a 12-bed general medicine unit with a diverse population including patients ranging from anxiety, depression and mental disorders. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Nurse is expected to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, prioritizing quality and safe patient care. Nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment must be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN license issued by the State of California.
BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
Must have a minimum of one year of acute care IMU or PCU RN experience. (If insufficent applicant pool, department may consider RNs with one year acute care psych experience.)
Inpatient Psychiatric RN experience.
ANCC certified as a Psychiatric and/or Mental Health Nurse.
Extensive knowledge of DSM V psychiatric diagnosis and plan of care/treatment; antipsychotic, anti-anxiety, mood stabilizers, antidepressants and other applicable psychiatric medications.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment.
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
